The world’s largest cruise ship, The Allure of the Sea, has managed to clear its final hurdle today as it cross under a bride near Denmark that was a concern for the captions.
The bridge, the Great Belt Fixed Link, was a concern over the height of the ship but The Allure of the Sea managed to slip under without a problem.
Now the ship will make its way to Florida, where it will land at its home port. From there it will carry passengers all over the world in high style. As the largest cruise ship, it can handle thousands of people and give them nearly every form of entertainment possible in one place.
The Allure of the Sea measures the length of four football fields and can hold up to 8300 people including the crew. Worth about $1.5 billion, the ship measures 236 feet high at sea level. It has taken years for the ship to be completed and many were concerned about the massive size.
Cruise travel has picked up in the US this year, with more passengers lining up for a spot on one of the luxurious ships. Millions of Americans travel onboard cruise ships every year, enjoying fine dining and top-notch entertainment.
The Allure of the Sea offers a full theater, ice rink, several pools and a casino. It was built-in a Finnish ship yard that employed 3300 people for the past three years to complete the vessel.
