The Beatles Released on iTunes

The announcement came yesterday that The Beatles full song collection would finally be released on iTunes, the music system based through Apple in Silicon Valley.

For over a decade the battle between Apple and Apple Corps (the music company that holds the rights to all Beatles songs) has been waging behind the scenes. Millions of fans have been calling for the release but there was little movement in the negotiations.

Many have blamed this on Steve Jobs, who is notorious for being cheap when it comes to royalty figures to artists and entertainment groups. It would appear that the Beatles would not allow such penny-pinching when it came to their music catalog.

The two remaining Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have both said that they are pleased that the Beatles tunes will finally be released on iTunes. They are looking forward to seeing the same amount of love shown to the music in the digital world as it was when it was originally released on vinyl.

Up until this point iPod users would need to find a CD copy of the Beatles songs and then rip it to digital format for play on their music systems. Now all of the songs, including the entire boxed set with previously unreleased material, is available through the world’s most popular music download site.

Rumors about the possible cloud based iTunes system have many wondering about a time line. The necessity to target a home computer to use iTunes has many people complaining and warrants a cloud based application.
