Teen Mom Star Faces more Charges

Amber Portwood, from Indiana, the star of Teen Mom on MTV, was released from jail this morning after being arrested on three more felony charges of assault against her former fiancé.
Portwood was previously arrested and charged with assault in the misdemeanor court for assault against Gary Shirley. The charges stemmed from taped portions of the show that showed Portwood hitting the father of her child in the face and stomach and using foul language around their daughter who was just months old at the time.
However, before the misdemeanor charges went to court Portwood was recorded assaulting Shirley again, which forced the DA in Anderson, Indiana to file the felony charges. Portwood admitted that the assaults were not a dramatized event for the cameras and also admitted that she has a problem with anger.
The felony charges that have been brought against Portwood could land her in prison for up to 15 years. Her child was removed from her home when she was arrested but now that she was released on bail her attorney has said that the child will be returned to her.
Now Portwood must work on her defense. It is likely, according to inside sources, that she will attempt to land a plea deal with the DA. Portwood has no criminal record so it is likely that she will not receive any kind of jail time when she is brought to court for the plea agreement. MTV had no comment on the recent arrest.
