Rapper turned actor Ja Rule has decided to plead guilty to illegal weapons charges in New York stemming from a 2007 arrest and has agreed to a sentence of 2 years behind bars.

Ja Rule is a member of the now notorious Murder Inc group. The group consists entirely of rappers that have come up hard from the gang world and rap about their lives throughout the world of drugs, murder and death.

In 2007 Ja Rule was in New York to perform a concert with fellow rappers Lil Wayne and Cashman. Directly following the concert the car carrying Ja Rule and the car carrying Lil Wayne were stopped by New York police officials. Both cars contained weapons that were illegal and not registered to the occupants.

Lil Wayne pled guilty in 2008 and was sentenced to one year behind bars in March. He was recently released and is currently on probation for the criminal offense.

Ja Rule met with prosecutors today and arranged for the deal to be carried out. Under the terms of the plea agreement, Ja Rule will be sentenced to 2 years in prison, of which he will serve no more than 16 months, and also a year and a half of probation.

In exchange for the agreement prosecutors have said that they will not restrict his movements while on probation so he can continue with his highly popular concert tours. He is set to be sentenced in February 2011.
