Profits in RadioShack, reported in a statement today, are up 23% much higher than expected.

The company released the statement that stunned the retail world as revenue numbers in the electronics retailer were expected to be low. Stocks in RadioShack were on the rise following the earnings report.

The push to the mobile market has helped RadioShack in the past several quarters. As a retailer RadioShack has been served well by selling a wide variety of mobile devices through several carriers.

RadioShack has seen a recent surge in demand for prepaid mobile services. Several prepaid mobile carriers have moved to the popular unlimited plans, making them a wise choice for teens and young adults.

An upswing in laptop computers has also fueled the earnings increase for RadioShack. The company is known for maintaining locations in smaller areas where no other electronics retailer exists, making them a convenient option for the frugal shopper.

Retail experts have said that RadioShack is starting to shed their stuffy and high-priced image that nearly bankrupted the company several years ago. Having close hundreds of locations while restructuring the company, RadioShack has emerged as a powerful force in the industry.

Company leaders have said that they expect fourth quarter earnings to be up as well. With the coming holiday shopping season, RadioShack expects to see high profit numbers from the frenzied shopping season.

RadioShack has recently cut their costs by lowering their insurance rates and overall advertising while increasing employee incentive compensation in all retail locations.
