Lawrence Taylor, retired linebacker from the NFL, pled guilty last week to sex crimes in New York.

Taylor is credited with bolstering the success of all linebackers in the game of football. Before he started his career, linebackers were some of the lowest paid of all the players on any team. He showed the league what the position was worth and skyrocketed himself to fame at the same time.

However, one year ago things went south for the famed retired hall of famer. Taylor was caught with an underage prostitute in New York. In the very beginning he claimed that he did not have any kind of sexual contact with the girl.

Later he said that it was simply a transaction for oral sex. It was at this time that police learned that the girl was just 16 years old, which is one year below the age of consent for the state of New York.

Taylor claimed that he had no idea that the girl was underage and should not be held accountable. However, the laws in the state of New York state that ignorance of age is not a defense in sex based crimes.

Taylor pled guilty in court last week to two misdemeanor counts, including soliciting a prostitute and sexual misconduct without consent. He is set to be sentenced to 6 years of probation.

After his sentencing hearing another hearing will be conducted to determine if Taylor will need to register as a sex offender in the US or not.
