It has been reported by ‘USA Today’ on Wednesday that Pittsburgh Steelers’ James Harrison on Tuesday said that he would like to leave NFL as he is unhappy about the fine imposed on him.

The fine was imposed on him after an illegal hit was delivered by him to Mohamed Massaquoi of Cleveland Browns.

On Sunday Harrison was found defending the type of game played by him and also said that it would be a ‘travesty’ if he was reprimanded. The NFL has begun a crackdown on violence in the league.

Harrison told the Fox Studio radio that he sincerely hoped that something should be done. He said that the reasoning he received from the authorities has made him contemplate quitting the league. He took this decision because he thinks that he would lose his effectiveness after this.

Harrison has claimed that he did not intentionally hit Massaquoi on the head. The receiver had lowered his body at the last instant and he had wanted to hit him in the mid section.

Ray Anderson who is the NFL vice president of Football operations has said that league wants to strictly enforce rules related to violent and dangerous hits. This would also include suspension for players if they endanger head and necks of fellow players.

The coach of Pittsburg Steelers has defended Harrison’s hit. Harrison has stated that he wants to talk to his coach about whether he would be able to play in the league according to the rules and also be effective. In case it does not work out he will leave playing the game. His agent said that they intend to appeal against the fine.
