For the first time since 1954 the Giants have won a World Series title. The streets of San Francisco were flooded with celebrating fans last night as the Giants clinched the series with a big win.

This has been cause for celebration for the team that defied all the odds to make it to the top.

During regular season play the Giants team was often called the cast-offs. The team was made up of primarily players who were not wanted by other teams. They were the misfits and aging players that were cast aside and forgotten about.

However, that team of misfits has pulled off a major upset in the world of professional baseball. Defeating the Texas Rangers was anything but easy. The Rangers are just as hungry for a win as the Giants but they simply lost on the mound.

The Giants were not productive at the plate but they made some key runs when the chips were down. The key to winning for the Giants was pitching. Their pitching staff managed to keep the Rangers at bay long enough for the Giants to put the numbers on the big board.

The World Series is something that long eluded greats like Barry Bonds and Willie Mays. The situation was especially devastating for Willie Mays who is considered one of the best players to ever grace San Francisco.

With the series concluded the time has come for other teams to start working to lure World Series players to other teams. This will include Cliff Lee from the Rangers who is rumored to be headed to New York next season.
