Brett Favre, quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, found out yesterday that he was being fined $50,000 by the NFL stemming from the allegations that he sent elicit text messages to Jenn Sterger.

The announcement of the fine by the NFL ends the long road of scandal that had encompassed Favre for most of the season. The embattled quarterback spent the better part of the season fighting off the allegations and also dealing with on-field injuries that kept him out of several games.

The NFL said that they decided to not suspend Favre because they did not find enough evidence to support the claim that he violated the league’s behavior policies. However, they did find that he was not being cooperative with the investigation and levied the fine.

But Jenn Sterger, the accuser in the case, is seething with anger over the fine. She called on the NFL to suspend Favre and said that if they chose not to suspend him then she would go forward with her civil lawsuit and make her evidence public.

Sterger spoke through her attorney this morning and told reporters that she feels that Favre was being treated as though he did nothing wrong. She went on to say that the NFL was “sexist” and believed that Favre was getting a pass on the allegations because he is a star player.

Favre had no comment on the allegations nor the fine when asked by reporters. Favre is currently sidelined thanks to a concussion he suffered during last week’s game against the Bears.
