East Coast Slammed by Storms Again
By Terry GreenJan 12 2011
The East Coast is once again bracing for a massive snow storm today, which is most likely going to inhibit travel throughout New York, Boston and many other places.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm that brought plenty of snow to the northeast, will hit the area tonight and continue through tomorrow. More than two additional feet of snow is expected to fall all over the east coast.
The last two storms that hit the area virtually crippled the entire travel industry. Airlines cancelled all flights throughout the east coast and continued to do so over the course of three days.
However, New York said that they are ready for the snow this time, unlike the last dumping, which ended up costing the city millions in lost revenue and overtime for the city workers to clear the snow. There are plenty of areas where the snow is still piled high, showing the remaining problems from the last storm.
The National Weather Service has already issued severe storm warnings all over the east coast, telling drivers and commuters to brace for impact when the storm hits. Winds in excess of 45 mph are expected to come in with the storm and the snow will accumulate quickly.
New York officials have been criticized for their lack of response to the event last week but now they are getting a chance to show travelers and city dwellers exactly what they can do when the occasion calls for it.
