Cowboys Fall Again Phillips Faces Consequences
By Gabriela MooreNov 8 2010
The Dallas Cowboys fell to last place yesterday and this morning Jerry Jones announced that Wade Phillips would face some consequences.
This is the first time since hiring Phillips that Jones has not stood in his defense.
The Cowboys stand at 1-7 on the season. This is a disappointing place to be for the team that once dominated the NFL and has several Super Bowl appearances under their belt. Now Phillips may lose his job, something that the Cowboy’s fans have wanted for the entire season.
However, it is not clear as to what kind of consequences that Phillips will face. Many are hopeful that Phillips will be relieved of his duties as head coach which will allow for another coach to take over. This is exactly the kind of thing that Jones swore would not happen in this season.
Nonetheless, it is clear that something needs to happen with the team. They have not played well since starting the season with a win and they are not responding well to Phillips.
It is possible that Jones could move Phillips back to his original position as defense coordinator and allow for a replacement head coach to be brought it. However, it will be difficult as the season is already well under way and most of the coaches that were available have positions with other teams.
Jones has said that he will make an announcement later this week that will have to do with the fate of Phillips and the Cowboys altogether.
