After Sunday’s loss to the Vikings that put the team at 1-4, Jerry Jones said once again this morning that he will not fire head coach Wade Phillips before the season is over with.

Jones has been an outspoken supporter of Phillips since he was hired and continues to stand firm in his decision to keep Phillips with the team for the entire season.

The Cowboys have shown no signs of life this season. Fans have already speculated that their playoff hopes have been all but dashed as the team continues to lose. Despite some major off-season trades and purchases, the Cowboys continue to slide in the rankings.

“I would never consider firing Wade during the season,” Jones said this morning via ESPN.

Fans from around the world have taken to the internet hoping to push Jones into making the difficult decision. Through it all Jones has stood defiant in the face of opposition. With his team continuing to turn over the ball and sustain damning penalties, the Cowboys are hardly displaying any of the qualities that led them to the Super Bowl several years ago.

During Sunday’s game, the Cowboys were flagged 11 times for penalties. The lack of fundamental play has Jones and the coaches baffled to say the least. However, Jones has said that he is still hopeful that the team could recover and earn a playoff spot.

Should the Cowboys manage to make the playoffs and earn a Super Bowl spot, they would be the first team ever to host a February Super Bowl.
