Last Minute Shoppers Crowd Stores
By Lucy MitchellDec 26 2010
Retail outlets from around the US reported that Christmas Eve shopping was at an all time high this year.
Many outlets remained open only limited hours on Friday, giving their employees a chance to head home and enjoy time with their families. However, during those times they were so busy that most of the employees that worked for the location were called in to handle the overflow.
Most retailers have said that this is the same thing that happens every year. Those who have waited to get those special gifts are joined by those that forgot someone on the list. This is coupled with the people who need batteries and food items that may have been forgotten during the regular shopping season.
Last minute shopping has become an art form for many people. They hit the retailers on the very last day that they will be open before the holiday to snag some last-minute deals. Some retailers have started to embrace this practice by offering hot deals on Christmas Eve.
For Christmas shopping on the last day there is an air of desperation hanging in the air. Trying to find the best possible gift with just a few hours to shop can be a difficult and stressful time in the lives of many.
However, most shoppers reported that the last-minute shopping has become such a tradition that they are not capable of doing it any other way. As such the stores continue to cater to those that want to wait for their time to shop.
