Weight Loss Surgery Fixes Heart Issues

Researchers announced yesterday that the weight loss surgeries carried out in the US for obese patients actually fix the heart, which is a leading concern for those that are overweight.
The report outlined that losing mass amounts of weight actually encourages greater heart health rather than harming the body as originally believed. It was long believed that extreme weight loss after extreme weight gain was difficult on the heart and led to more deaths.
But the new information shows that the weight loss surgery actually remodels the heart to allow it to work with the new body style. As the weight comes off the heart has to work less to pump the blood throughout the system. This increases the heart health of all patients that undergo the surgery.
However, some are using this as a platform to encourage the FDA to lessen the restrictions on the use of weight loss surgery. At this time there are strict guidelines about the weight and size of a person before they are able to undergo the surgery.
If the supporters are successful then it could open up the surgery for a good many more people in the world. Those with the lower Body Mass Index numbers may find it easier to achieve weight loss through the surgery without having to worry about the denial after the process is completed.
At this time there are two main types of weight loss surgery, Gastric Bypass and Lap Band. The Gastric Bypass is used for those that have extreme weight problems.
