Michael Vick Wants to Be a Pet Owner

Eagle’s quarterback Michael Vick told ESPN last night that he would like the opportunity to own a dog in the near future.
Vick, as most will remember, was banned from ever owning another dog after he was sent to prison on federal dog fighting charges. The lack of dog ownership was a special addition to his sentence when he faced the charges to which he pled guilty and was sentenced to several years in prison.
Now Vick has been telling reporters that he would like to once again own a dog. According to his statements his family, including his young daughters miss owning a family dog. He has promised that he would not take the ownership of the animal for granted as he did in the past.
Vick was put in prison for running a massive dog fighting operation. There is little evidence that Vick gained anything financially from the dog fighting. However, he was also convicted of cruelty to animals for killing several of the dogs that were used in the fighting, reportedly to hide the evidence of the crimes.
Vick was originally banned from playing in the NFL after he was released from prison. However, he won the right to play after an appeal and has been the starting quarterback for Eagles for the past two months.
Vick reported early last month that he was still in deep debt from the criminal case despite his rather lucrative contract with the football league.
