Early this morning Wesley Snipes reported to the Mckean Federal Prison in Pennsylvania to begin serving his three-year sentence for failing to pay taxes.

All hopes were dashing for the actor best known for the vampire hunting Blade series when his final appeal for a trial review was rejected. Snipes appeared on Larry King Live earlier this week to hopefully make his case for why he should be allowed to have a new trial.

During the interview one of the jurors in the case wrote a letter to King that showed that the jury had made up their minds before they heard the evidence in the case. Snipes and his attorney believe that this is enough for the actor to be granted a new trial. However, the judge in the case denied the motion before even considering it.

Snipe’s attorney is currently working to file a motion with the US Supreme Court but it is likely that it will have to wait until after the first of the year. The Court is preparing to close for their holiday break and will not return until the second week of January.

Legal experts believe that the testimony of the juror is enough to grant a new trial. They are also questioning why the original trial judge is not taking this into consideration. The mere fact that the trial judge is refusing such motions could be enough to grant a new trial with a different judge.
