The Minnesota Vikings are looking to keep things simple for today’s game against the Washington Redskins.

This will be the first game for interim coach Leslie Frazier, who took over for Brad Childress who was fired last week after the team suffered yet another loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Under coach Frazier the team will greatly simplify their game plan, leaving behind some of the complicated plays that Childress often used to confuse the other team. In the last several games those plays were destroyed by the opposing team and led to a turnover and then a touchdown by the defenders.

Frazier has spent the last week working in the playbook and creating some newer and simpler plays that rely heavily on the running game. Childress was a big proponent of the passing game, using Favre and his receivers to move the ball down the field.

However, the Vikings will take the field today without Favre. He has fallen ill and the backup quarterback will take his place for the much-needed game. Frazier has spent the last two days working with Andrew Quarless on the plays and the new offensive positions that will be featured in today’s game.

All eyes will be on Frazier today as he fields the team for the first time. Most have said that this will be his trial by fire and could be the first in a few auditions for the team owners to see if he is ready to take over the team permanently.
