Kinect to Sell out by Christmas
By Lucy MitchellNov 10 2010
Microsoft announced this morning that the new Kinect controller for Xbox360 will sell out in the US by Christmas day.
The battle for video game dominance is one that has waged for decades. In the early days there were but a few players and today there are many. Xbox360 by Microsoft is just one of the many but they have made a splash with their new Kinect controller system.
The Kinect is based upon the motion devices that were made popular by the Nintendo Wii gaming system. However, Kinect takes things one step further by allowing the player to be the controller.
The popularity of this new system is already soaring and the company has announced that sales should be massive by the time Christmas arrives. In a statement to the press today they announced that the system would be completely sold out by the 25th of December.
This is a bold statement by Microsoft considering all of the video game offerings in the US right now. Sony has already answered the call with their popular Playstation Move system. Nintendo Wii is still a top competitor as well, especially considering the low price and new anniversary editions that hit the shelves recently.
However, Microsoft is confident that their new system will be the hottest tech toy of the 2010 Christmas season. New games are slated to be released with the new system, making it even more enticing to those that are shopping for the young gamers in their lives.
