The Walking Dead Appears Sunday

Vampires have dominated the screen and television for the past several years but now zombies are coming to town and they may take over the top monster spot. On Sunday night, AMC will premier The Walking Dead to a hungry audience.

Based on the popular comic book series, The Walking Dead follows a police officer who is trapped in a world gone mad. His first order of business is to find his family and then he must protect them from the lurching hoard of the formerly dead who are intent on feeding on live humans.

This creates a new genre in television history. Over the years there have been many movies based on zombies. They have hit the big screen with mixed reviews but they have all been favorites among horror film fans.

With The Walking Dead, the zombies come to the small screen, an area where they have yet to conquer. However, with the show being produced by AMC there is little fear that it will fail.

AMC has been well-known for producing shows that operate on the outside of the norm. Hit shows like Mad Men have topped their ranks. They have also received acclaim for their show Breaking Bad that follows a timid science teacher who becomes a major meth dealer to support his family after a cancer diagnosis.

Horror and suspense fans alike are said to be in for a real treat when it comes to The Walking Dead.
