$100 off iPads at TJ Maxx
By Lucy MitchellNov 20 2010
Overstock retailer TJ Maxx announced this morning that a select number of their US stores will sell Apple iPads for $100 off the standard price.
This is a bold move by TJ Maxx. TJ Maxx normally deals only with items that other retailers over purchase and then sell to TJ Maxx at a discounted bulk rate. This is why their stores are full of items that are considered to be in limited supply only.
However, with the announcement that they will sell iPads many are wondering how they managed to get their hands on them. iPads are one of the hottest selling devices on the market right now and they are still selling strong through all retail outlets.
There is speculation that this is nothing but a publicity stunt on the part of TJ Maxx to draw in customers.
This speculation is based on the fact that Apple is very selective with the retailers that they offer their products through as well as strict with the fact that they do not allow discounts at the retail level.
TJ Maxx has said that only a select number of US stores will have a supply of iPads. They have chosen to not disclose the locations that have the supplies of iPads. This lends to the rumor that this is a publicity stunt.
The iPads that are being offered by TJ Maxx are $100 off the normal retail price. This discount puts the devices at $399 each.
